Introduction

The Author-e suite allows the export- and import of Author-e documents from- and to Author-e instances by using its own DocA format. The DocA format can also be used by third parties to import Author-e documents into their own system. For example the SPW uses the DocA format to import CCT-BW documentation into the VirtuV reader.

This manual describes the DocA format for partners of SPW. This is done by describing briefly an example DocA export: structure, content and metadata of the export is visualized and explained. This will help the reader to understand how to interpret the XSD files in Appendix B.

To better understand the concepts of Author-e documents in Appendix A, an overview of an Author-e document is shown.

A DocA document is a zip file containing multiple XML files and assets (images, files) as used or referred to in the exported document. For each XML file the according XSD files are made available in Appendix B.

The used example Author-e document is found in Appendix C - and explaining how the used data is stored in the exported DocA document.

Comments about this documentation

The creation of the DocA export module is performed about 8 years back by programmers of a previous company (Turpin Vision). At that time no document for external usage was created, so this current document has been created by a kind-of reverse engineering. Please help us to improve this documentation by informing us about mistakes or by making other suggestions. You can mail us at info@authore.com and mention DocA documentation.
